House of Assembly

Parliament has two chambers, called “Houses”. The Government is formed in the House of Assembly, or Lower House.

The House of Assembly has 47 members, who each represent their local area. Electorates have approximately the same number of voters, so an electorate in the inner city is geographically smaller than a rural seat.
