I am Standing
I am standing as an Australian Democrat for the seat of Mayo to bring back the Australian ideal of 'a fair go for all'.
Australia was once the Commonwealth of Australia. We all, in our own way, contributed for the benefit of all.
For too long now there has been an attitude amongst the major parties of self-interest. This can only lead Australia into a fractured society bereft of the energy that made us who we are.
With the problems we are facing such as climate change, water shortages, peak oil, involvement in Iraq and terrorism, we need a Federal Parliament willing to develop real strategies and find real solutions that ensure a fair and just country.
Why should people vote for me?
I will make Australia a better, fairer place for all. I will deal with realities, not spin.
About Me
I have lived in the Adelaide Hills since 1985. I have a daughter aged 23 and son aged 26. My son has a learning disability and lives at home with me.
I have worked as a Laboratory Technician in various laboratories in Perth and Adelaide. These include mineral assay laboratories, a hospital biochemistry laboratory, and agriculture / soil analysis laboratory. I have been employed as a Laboratory Technician at a Senior High School for the last 17 years. As a parent of a young adult with a mild intellectual disability, I am very aware of the needs of both carers and children / young adults with an intellectual disability.
Key areas of concern:
1.
Improving education for all students, with the main emphasis on literacy.
2.
Dealing with the realities of climate change.
3.
Giving the people of Australia a Federal Parliament they can trust.
4.
Ending our involvement in Iraq.
