Opportunities abound for cost saving through reduced licensing fees, and the potential for the academic sector to use participation in OSS projects as part of computing studies.

Here in South Australia, the campaign is progressing on two fronts: with legislation to compel government departments and agencies to consider OSS when buying or developing software; and Ian's efforts in Parliament to have OSS products available on the desktop for MPs and staff.
